Our young and very promising Viktoria Gimenez, raced last weeked at the European Downhill Cup in Wisla, Poland. Let's here from her how the race went:
This weekend, I participated on the race of Wisla in Poland a race that makes part of the European Cup. On friday, I discovered a very technical track, pretty similar to a World Cup one: full of roots and very steep.
On friday it was dry but rained all night long, which meant it was very slippery on saturday, with a very liquid mud that mixed with the steep sections made for a very fun to ride descent for those not used to this kind of conditions. Unfortunately on Sundy, the sun came back and track dried and so it was stuck.
On the qualifying run I finished second and I had to pass two girls on my run. On the finals run I did very good and fast on the top section but had a flat on the middle section, so had to ride with the flat to the end. Anyway only did 3 seconds more than on the first run, so pretty happy finishing second behind a World Cup rider as Jana Bartova in a race with an important concurrence.
Next race: Zona Zero Enduro in Spain.
