Gravel bar tape

Gravel riding exposes your hands to constant vibration, rapid changes of surface and long stretches on the hoods. Good gravel bar tape should combine a dependable grip with enough cushioning to make rough terrain more comfortable. Our gravel selection contains only genuine AMS bar tapes.

Choose tape for the gravel you actually ride

AMS Sterrato 2.5 mm suits rougher routes and long days off tarmac. Its PU/EVA construction, shock-absorbing gel and tacky textured surface put comfort and secure hand contact first. It offers an approximately 3.0 mm cushioning feel when installed.

AMS Tessel 2.5 mm is the alternative for fast, hard-packed gravel and mixed road rides. Its tessellated surface provides a dense, controlled feel, with gel-based backing to help manage vibration. The installed feel is approximately 3.0 mm, depending on wrap tension and overlap.

Grip on changing terrain

Both options are built for grip in dry, wet and sweaty conditions. Neither eliminates vibration; tyre pressure, gloves, bar shape and riding position also affect hand comfort. The right tape helps fine-tune the contact point without changing your setup.

Sterrato or Tessel for gravel?

Start with Sterrato if your rides frequently include washboard, stones and rough tracks. Choose Tessel if you prefer a firmer, more connected feel on faster gravel. Both are 2.5 mm tapes; select the finish and available colour that match your riding.
