What are AMS Bar Guards?

AMS Bar Guards are adhesive, semi-rigid covers made from the same honeycomb polymer used in AMS Frame Guards. They wrap around the external surface of handlebars to protect them from scratches, chips, and abrasion. 

Are they intended mainly for transport, or also for trail protection?

Both. They protect against damage during transport (knocks, cable rub, gear contact) and in everyday use—guarding the bar surface from wear, scratches from mounts, crash scuffs, or impact with branches. 

Do they interfere with grips or controls?

No, AMS designs the guard pieces to leave clearance for grips, brake levers, shifters, and other handlebar controls. They are applied in segments that avoid interfering with control zones.

How do I install or remove them?

Install: Clean and degrease the handlebar surface. Position the pre-cut pieces around the bar, peel off the backing, align carefully, press on firmly, and smooth out any bubbles. Because of the semi-rigid adhesive, they conform well to the bar shape.

Remove: Loosen by peeling slowly from one edge. If the adhesive has aged, gentle heat (e.g. hair dryer) may soften the bond before removal.
