What’s the difference between MTB Chain Guards and the Road & Gravel version?

The AMS “Honeycomb Chain Guard” is intended for mtb bikes that don’t come with a chain protector installed and protects also the seat stays. The Road & Gravel version is designed to protect just the chain stay of Gravel and Road bikes. 

Will a Chain Guard prevent dropped chains on rough terrain?

Not, chain guards are for protection of the frame, not chain retention. For chain drop prevention, guides (bash guards, narrow-wide rings, clutch derailleurs) are better. The chain guard does help reduce damage if a dropped chain hits the frame.

Does it reduce drivetrain noise on gravel or road rides?

Yes, by cushioning contact and preventing hard metal-on-carbon/metal noise, it can reduce rattling and slapping noise. (A common benefit of stay protection films.)

How do I install AMS Chain Guards?

1- Clean the chainstay and seatstay surfaces with alcohol.
2- The kit includes pre-cut adhesive shapes (modular parts).
3- Peel, align, press into place, smooth bubbles.
4- Position narrow parts for seat stays and larger parts for chainstay. 

Are they compatible with 1x and 2x drivetrains?

Yes, they mount on the stays, not interfering with chainline or front chainrings. The guard works independently of whether you have single or double chainrings.
