From Frustration to Formula: Why We Created AMS Miami Glide Chain Wax

It didn’t begin with a product idea. It began with a feeling: frustration.

After long rides—gravel loops near home, mountain descents on weekends—there was always the same disappointment. The drivetrain, once smooth and silent, would be coated in grime. Chains felt tired. Cassettes wore down faster than they should. Every ride seemed to cost something—time, effort, or component life.

But the worst part? Dropping a chain. It happened more often than I’d like to admit, and every time I reached down to fix it, my hands came up filthy—black, sticky, impossible-to-wipe-off kind of dirty. Oil-based lubes turned even small mechanical issues into a mess. And I hated it.

Chain lubes, supposedly the answer, rarely helped. Wet lubes invited dirt and turned into sticky paste after a few kilometers. Dry lubes disappeared too quickly. And wax lubes? The promise was there, but execution often fell short: some were hard to apply, others came in sketchy packaging or had zero transparency about what was inside or where they come from.

I wanted something that didn’t exist.

So we went searching. We bought, tested, and rode with every wax-based lube we could find—from big-name brands to small-batch startups. We kept notes: how clean the chain stayed, how quiet the ride was, how often re-application was needed. But it wasn’t just performance. Packaging felt off. Some bottles leaked. Others looked like they belonged in a garage, not a gear bag. And almost none of them told you where they were made.

Eventually, it became clear: if we wanted it done right, we’d have to do it ourselves.

Building Something Better

We partnered with chemists and manufacturers—not in some far-off factory, but close to home. Like most of our products, AMS Miami Glide is made near our HQ in the Barcelona area. That matters to us. It means shorter feedback loops, tighter quality control, and a more sustainable footprint.

Dozens of iterations followed. Different base formulas, ceramic blends, viscosity levels, application experiences. All tested the same way: on real rides, by real riders. Gravel, enduro, road. Dusty summer loops, muddy fall climbs. Long days. Short, sharp rides. The goal was never to make the best in lab conditions. It was to make something that just works—day in, day out, wherever and however you ride.

What We Ended Up With

AMS Miami Glide is a wax-based chain lubricant designed to keep your drivetrain clean, quiet, and efficient. It’s the product we wished existed when we were just riders looking for something better.

  • Cleaner Drivetrain – The wax-based formula repels dirt, mud, and grime.

  • Smoother Ride Feel – You feel the difference from the first pedal stroke.

  • Long-Lasting Protection – Maintains effectiveness in dry and moderately wet conditions.

  • Application Made Easy – With its blue tint, you can see exactly where you’ve applied.

  • Sustainably Packaged – Comes in a recyclable carton.

Apply it to a clean, dry chain. Let it dry overnight. Ride. Reapply when needed. That’s it.

It’s Not About Perfection. It’s About Real Riding.

AMS Miami Glide wasn’t created for racers chasing marginal gains. It was built for those of us who care about our bikes and ride them hard. Riders who value their components, want less mess, and crave a smoother feel underfoot. For gravel grinders, mountain trail seekers, and everyday road warriors who expect more from their gear.

No gimmicks. Just a solid, clean-performing wax chain lube made close to home, born from real riding frustrations—and a commitment to do things better.
